It is clear that the seasons are slightly different every year, therefore in general we start sowing in the open field when the minimum temperatures are above 12-15 ° C; if this occasionally occurs in very late spring, some vegetables may not be able to ripen in the best way in time, before autumn arrives; for this reason there are orange-red nets, which must be placed on the plants, they are used as anti-hail; such nets favor a more rapid ripening of tomatoes, for example.
However, consider that some vegetables, such as zucchini or salad, have a fairly short vegetative period, and a few weeks from sowing to harvesting are enough, so they should be perfect; the same happens with annual aromatic herbs (dill, parsley, basil), with radishes, onions, leeks, green beans and beans of all kinds, carrots. In addition to this, apart from tomatoes, aubergines and peppers, which remain in the field for months, it happens that in some areas with very hot summers, it is avoided to grow vegetables such as salads during the summer; this problem will not arise for your friend from Linz, who will be helped in his garden even by the increased rainfall of the place.
