Inside our garden an indispensable touch of liveliness will be provided by the flower beds where to grow the flowers. To achieve them, first of all, the presence of other flowers and plants must be taken into account: in particular, as regards the latter, it will be necessary to consider the depth of the roots. It is advisable not to place future flower beds too close to outdoor plants to prevent them from stealing water and nutrients from the flowers. The space of the flower bed will be delimited by a curb that can be made either with natural materials such as river stones and stone, or with special elements on the market. In order for the flower beds to develop adequately, the soil must be deeply digged and spontaneous stones and herbs that are often found in vegetable gardens and gardens are eliminated. If you notice that the soil is particularly impoverished, it will be better to fertilize it: the types of fertilizers based on potassium sulphate, in particular, will be preferred to the others available on the market.
Subsequently, holes will have to be dug to allow the bulbous plants to grow: above all, the size and depth of the holes will be designed according to the size of the bulb. As for the types of bulbous plants to be planted, it is advisable to choose those characterized by the same seasonal flowering (such as spring flowering) to avoid disturbances caused by the different sowing times and the different watering of plants and flowers. In the area intended for the flower bed, it will be necessary to carefully fertilize the earth to plant annual and bulbous flowers, to be replaced every season based on the preferred color and the blooms of the moment. The flowerbed can be composed with imaginative designs, formed by the blossoming of flowers: this particular artistic form is called mosaic cultivation. However, it is better to avoid too complex designs and an overabundance of colors, especially if the space is small. One solution is for example a ring in the center of a lawn, in which flowers in different shades chase each other.
