The Kraski Ovcar (Karst shepherd dog) has the same origins as the "Shepherd dog of Ciarplanina". The breeds have diversified due to crosses made centuries ago. Subsequently, some typical characteristics were established, for which today's breed was formed in its own right. It is a breed that is scarcely widespread even in the same homeland of origin. It is very difficult to admire in other European countries. The breed has very few breeders.
Medium-sized dog, of powerful construction, with ears hanging down the head. Hanging tail, iron gray color, curly and thick coat. Generally its construction is decidedly robust, harmonious, with well-developed musculature. Very well proportioned build and harmonious overall.
Characteristically very similar to the "Shepherd dog of Ciarplanina". Of somewhat calm temperament. For centuries it fought the wolf, so a formidable courage remained imprinted in its genome. Become aggressive if strangers enter his property. It is rare to have relationships with people he doesn't know. It adapts very well to the family environment and is very affectionate. Dog that does not require specific grooming, it is more than enough to keep the hair periodically clean. He is a good shepherd dog. It proves very faithful. Also suitable for the company.
