Sansevieria trifasciata is a very common species among ornamental indoor plants. Its foliage is formed by beautiful glossy and fleshy leaves, with a long and lanceolate shape, with dark green spots, streaked with yellow. To cultivate the Sansevieria and make it grow luxuriantly, rich in dense and well-slender foliage, it is essential to know that it lives very well in the apartment because it loves hot temperatures, in fact in summer it resists even above 30 ° C. The only precaution to use concerns the stagnation of water in the saucer and humidity. Sansevieria is a plant accustomed to a dry climate that prefers warm, but above all dry places. To take care of Sansevieria it is necessary to bury it in deep vessels, this allows its underground rhizome to develop and spread freely. Sansevieria is a robust plant as long as it is not given too much water by mistake or as in many cases, in evergreen plants of tropical origin, there is no stagnation in the saucer. Indoor plants are often used to the arid climate, so if grown in pots, they easily suffer from root rot. The most common diseases of the Sansevieria are announced with the leaves that appear limp and with brown spots at the base. When the plant is watered too much, its root system can get sick and start to rot. The remedy is to remove the plant from the pot and cut the dark parts of the rhizome, and then let it dry in the open air for a few days. It is also advisable to cut the affected leaves and treat the cuts with sulfur powder. It can also happen that the leaves lose their mottles, becoming completely uniform. In this case the plant needs light. Finally, if the Sansevieria is attacked by Cochineal, it can be treated with a fungicide product.
