Origin and economic characteristics

Italian breed which, according to some authors, would be the result of the cross between the Polish (or Occhialone, barbel in English) and the Reggianino, towards the end of the XIIX century. Later, the blood of the Belgian Traveler would also have been introduced, of which it has certain bodily characteristics and attitude to flight. The size is a little larger than the traveling pigeon.
It belongs to the category of pigeons carunculated.

Morphological characteristics

Fairly large head, high forehead and rather long neck. Large and medium-length beak. Ocular caruncles formed by 2/3 fine-grained rings.
Wide breast, short wings, broad shoulders. Short tail that surpasses the wings by about 2 centimeters. Very tall and spaced legs.
Various colors: white, black, blue, colorful, etc.
