Description

The Palude di Frattarolo is a wetland area, adjacent to Lake Salso, covering 500 hectares (including the mouth of the Candelaro), of which 257 ha are protected as a natural reserve for animal population. In the past, the area was affected by the flooding of the Candelaro stream which limited the periods of water scarcity. The area represents an important resting place and nesting place for many birds, among which we remember the great blue heron, the Italian knight, the moorhen, the marsh harrier and many others.
